About our cypress timber
Cypress is the working softwood of the Kenyan building trade, and it is the species this mill cuts. Logs are broken down on the saw line at Elburgon and stacked by size in the yard, so what you order is cut stock you can walk up to and look at before it is loaded.
The 2-inch series runs 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 6x2, 8x2, 10x2 and 12x2. Between them they cover most of what a building needs: 2x2 for ceiling brandering and light framing, 3x2 and 4x2 for rafters, purlins and door frames, 6x2 and 8x2 where the span or the load asks for more depth, and 10x2 and 12x2 for beams, staircase strings and formwork that has to stay flat under pressure.
The 1-inch series — 2x1 through 8x1 — is the lighter stock: battens, noggins, fascia boards, shuttering and the general boxing that gets used and re-used across a site.
Timber is sold by the linear foot and cut to the lengths you ask for rather than to a fixed stock length, so there is less waste to pay for. If you are working from a cutting list, send the list as it stands and we will price the whole lot together.
